Hi,

I use WP Users plugin with Extended Events Manager plugin. I'm finding EME shortcodes in the bio text aren't being parsed, with just the shortcode syntax itself being rendered instead of its output.

Some research hints that the WP shortcode parser is triggered by a call to get_content(), but I don't find get_content() invoked anywhere in wp-users.php.

I try adding $html .= "<?php echo do_shortcode('[events_list author=alison]');?>";
...to wp-users.php, but nothing outputs to screen from that code

What am I doing wrong? Any help very gratefully received :-)

I've not tested it with the Thesis theme, nor do I have access to that theme to test it. I don't guarantee it will work with any other themes.

Plugins could also be a problem. You might try disabling all other plugins and see if that does anything. Sorry I can't be more help.

I'm no coder, but your plug in seems great. I was using it with a different theme and it displayed just fine. However, I have switched to Thesis for this site and this is what I get:

http://bca-atlanta.org/residents

Can you give me an idea of what's wrong?

I'm putting something together for a class reunion site mwhs1990.com / mwhs1990.com/classmates
This is ideally what I wanted but can't seem to find any simple free/cheap solution.

I have a list of people (graduating class) They see there name in the list, click it to create a profile (which also gives admin their info for contact) Then displays their public profile.

This is what I have been able to piece together.

Your plugin along with Register Plus ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/register-plus/ ) and User Photo allows users to register. I've put in extra fields, including checkbox's for display public for phone, email and address. The register plus supports auto fill for registration, so i can provide a link from a name that auto fills username (First Last) If they don't change it, this works. I've changed yours to sort by display name. This works because I can moderate the display name of registers. The drawback is display name sorts by first letter, which would be the first name. I can live with this but not ideal.

If you have a solution I would love to hear it. If I can hire you to get a workable solution email me -leonard.at.geekspecialties.com.

Thanks for your input,
Len

There is a plugin called Profiler that gives to the option to sort by Display name. The problem with the display name is that the user can set it to whatever they want. It can be their full name or in most cases, their username. So its totally different than sorting by name.

Also, another reason not to sort by last name, is that First and Last name are not required during registration. Not all users have entered first and last names. So unless you can force all users to enter that, it wouldn't be very useful anyway.

I will not be adding this ability unless WordPress makes it easier to search by name.

Thanks. I only know enough to mess things up not create them in php.
I would appreciate if you did get this figured out.
There is a 'Directory' plugin out there that does this (I think).
I'll look for it again, and if it has the sorting, I'll post it.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the plugin and nice formatting of the output, make it very easy to style.

I would like to sort this by real last name also. The code you posted is not working fro me. I changed it and nothing displays on the page except the [ Page 1 of 1 ] [ 1 ]

Try replacing line #90 in the plugin with this.

$query = "SELECT ID, user_nicename FROM $wpdb->users WHERE ID = ANY (SELECT user_id FROM $wpdb->usermeta WHERE meta_value IN ($roles)) ORDER BY $wpdb->usermeta.last_name LIMIT $offset, $usersPerPage";

That should sort your list of users by last name

They should be sorted by alphabetical order by username. All roles are grouped together, so it should do exactly what you are asking.
