Is there a workaround for the lack of carriage returns that my users are putting in their biographical description?

Let me start by saying I love this plug-in and so does my client. It was easy to set up and looks fantastic and couldn't be better for his club blog. I recently updated the WordpressUsers and Users Profile plugin to version 1.4 but there seemed to be an issue with the Membership Directory showing the photos. As the main admin, My profile picture is showing up okay but any of the members who uploaded photos on their accounts they are now not showing. There is an outlined box with an x and their username in place of what used to be their profile picture. My uploaded picture is showing up okay in the directory and if I log in on the same computer as another user, my admin photo still shows up in the directory but the user I'm logged in as, their photo is still missing, eventhough I can see their profile picture in a widget with their profile information on the sidebar. All of the generic avatar photos are in place in the directory, it is only the photos that people uploaded that are missing. I have wordpress 3.2 installed and have not updated to 3.2.1 because I'm new to wordpress and the auto update didn't work so I'm nervous to play with manually updating. I will get the courage up soon if that is the problem, just delaying because I will probably have to make changes to all of the css afterwards.
In the dashboard, under users, all of the photos people have uploaded are present. I tried deleting and reinstalling the app with no luck. In the settings, I have the following checked: Display user images on directory page; Display user descriptions on directory page; Display user images on profile page; Display user descriptions on profile page. For Avatar options I have User Photo selected and Gravatar deselected. Any help would be incredibly appreciated. Thanks!!

That's how it works. You must have the page set to private or some other setting or plugin that is causing them to be private. By default, they are public.

If you are running the Users plugin any version other than the latest 1.4, you may be vulnerable to an SQL injection attack. It is recommended that you upgrade to version 1.4 immediately.

Version 1.4 also contains several other bug fixes for all the errors it was throwing in debug mode. My apologies, and thanks!

Hello,

I have a meta key called user_order that is just numerical. I found the line that gets the users but I haven't been successful in changing the order by the meta_key. the meta_value is a string. i.e. "1" "2" "3" ect.

Here is what I have

$query = "SELECT $wpdb->users.ID, $wpdb->users.user_nicename FROM $wpdb->users INNER JOIN $wpdb->usermeta ON $wpdb->users.ID = $wpdb->usermeta.user_id WHERE $meta_values ORDER BY $wpdb->usermeta.user_order LIMIT $offset, $limit";

when I run the plugin off of this query nothing is returned.

I want the user list to display Alphabetically and show the Name and Email address of the User,not just their user name... Preferably on the LIST and the Profile...

I am not a programmer, nor do I have server access (I have to do everything through the WP Admin interface), so it has to be relatively simple for a web designer. :D

Hi,
@selfmade64856---your file at megaupload should be changed to wordpress-users instead of Wordpress Users. The reason for this is that you can't access it in the admin panel the way you have it. It MUST be wordpress-users for it to work correctly.
Just thought you and anyone else using your file would like to know.

Thanks,

Hello,

Activation of WordPress Users v1.3 breaks the page function on several different themes on multiple WPMU 3.1 installations.

When the plugin is activated the following occurs across installations on mutliple themes including OnDemand by Press75, Shiword by TwoBeersCrew, Intrepidity by TopBlog Formula and others.

1) WordPress shortcodes will not render in pages when the plugin is active. Posts are not affected. Only pages break.

2) ANYTHING other than plain text that is pasted into a page gets duplicated above the header area of the theme. For example, an embedded google calendar appears in the page AND above the header area of the themes. Posts are not affected. Only pages.

Deactivation of the plugin eliminates theses issues on all installations and all themes.

Too bad, it sounded like just what I needed.

Thanks,

I've added all of the default WordPress fields to this plugin. I have also tweaked it to use Cimy User Extra Fields. You can see my example profile here:

http://360realtyportal.com/agent-profiles/?uid=1

You can turn on and off the default WordPress fields under the WordPress Users options. If you want to add the Cimy User Extra Fields simply create the fields using Cimy and then edit the wp-users.php located in /public_html/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-users/wp-users.php. You will need to edit the code below line 310 to add Cimy fields.

I have left comments to assist, just check out the readme file. You can download the updated files here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=P7S9LRIM

I am not supporting this fix and don't know anything about php or css. This fix was accomplished with no knowledge of php editing, just simple trial and error, so if you need something else done, your guess is as good as mine ;)

Enjoy!!

Hi:

Love this plugin! It's very clean and intuitive. It is a lot more effective than some others I've used. I had one question, is there a way to add code to publish the member's email address in the profile page?

I see the code for calling the website in wp-users.php:

	}

	if ($curauth->user_url && $curauth->user_url != "http://") {
$html .= "<p>Website: user_url\" rel=\"nofollow\">$curauth->user_url</p>\n";
}

Is there something I can add that will publish the email as well?

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Great plugin!

I am willing to pay for some development work (provide me a quote) to have your plugin modified slightly.

Another plugin called "Member List" in the Wordpress repository has additional features we need which include being able to hide selected members from the list regardless of their role, search, sort and customization of list appearance.
Version 3.2.2 | By Matthew Praetzel

We need to be able to hide selected members other than by role as your plugin currently allows and to search and sort the member list.

I also like the way that "Member List" creates its own dedicated admin panel and I invite you to quote me for making these modifications.

Add dedicated admin panel
Add hide a member feature
Add member search
Add member list sort

Thanks for considering this request.

I look forward to a quote.

Sincerely,

Is this possible?

Or, is it possible to create individual pages for each role type so I can create links in the blog navigation?

Sorry for being so brash earlier. I do love the plugin, it fits my needs perfectly. Any user can edit their own profile unless they are an administrator. The plugin works perfectly otherwise. No other function on this computer seems to be awry and the entire site as well as other sites I maintain work perfectly. I have uninstalled the plugin to no avail. Even after uninstalling the plugin the administrator could not edit their own profile. I like it so I will keep on trying.

Thanks, Bob

Ever since I installed your plugin (which I like) every time I try to edit the administrator's profile I am told that I do not have permission. Luckily I had another user that I was able to make an administrator and that user was able to edit the original profile. However, the second user was not able to edit himself. I have looked at the database and it is fine. Your code is not documented and does not tell me anything straight up. What is the problem?

Hi,

I've installed your wordpress users plugin which is great. However since installing i'm having the problem that i can't edit the administrator user profile. Whenever i try, i'm sent to the page i specified as my profile list page.

I've tried de-activating the plugin but the problem persists, only the page i'm redirected to is empty (obviously because the plugin is de-activated).

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks

In the last week or so, I released version 1.2 of the Users plugin. New users were not appearing in WordPress 3.0, and that was fixed in that release.

Hot on the heels of 1.2 comes 1.3. With this version, I updated the pagination and added a default stylesheet. There is a way to override the stylesheet if you need to. I also moved the display of the page content from the bottom to the top of the page.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope this is an improvement for those of you using this. Thanks.
